City Ghaziabad

Situated in the centre of the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna, Ghaziabad is often called the Gateway of UP due to its proximity to New Delhi, the capital of India. For this reason, the city is the most important industrial, educational, and commercial centre of Western Uttar Pradesh. The city is divided by the river Hindon into two important parts, the western Trans-Hindon and the eastern Cis-Hindon. Ghaziabad is a major education and industrial hub in the country today and attracts migrants from other states and expats from around the world.
Ghaziabad is a truly historical city, having been founded in the 18th century. Construction and expansion are steadily progressing in the city, and as a result, it has emerged as the second fastest growing city in the world, according to a survey by City Mayors.

Key Industries and Job Opportunities

Ghaziabad was not the industrial colossus it is now, until 1947 when a spate of upcoming industries set the city in motion. The influx of professionals from the western part of the country encouraged the growth of a wide base of industries in the city. The economy of the city is highly dependent on its steel, chemical, mechanical engineering, and packaging material industries. One of India's oldest and largest breweries, Mohan Meakin, is based in Ghaziabad's Mohan Nagar area, where it also produces Old Monk, the world's third largest selling Rum.
Lately, major Indian industrial houses have set up operations here, including the Mohans, Modis, Tatas, Jaipurias, and Shri Rams. Institutions offering skill development and soft skills have proliferated in the recent years and the number of small scale industries has gone beyond 14,000 now. The city's proximity to the buzzing industrial centre of Delhi NCR makes it an ideal residential city for those working in Noida and Delhi as well.

Steel

The first steel manufacturing units in Ghaziabad came up in the 1970s, with the surrounding region being a centre of heavy mineral deposits in Uttar Pradesh. Several steel manufacturing industries have come up since. Rathi Ispat Limited is one of Ghaziabad's oldest steel plants. It produces hot rolled and cast iron products. The company has partnered with ISTEQ Corporation, Luxemburg, to produce TOR steel.
Ghaziabad Ispat Udyog Ltd. is another steel manufacturing company that has delivered consistently over the years and offers promising careers to both young and experienced professionals. Career opportunities in production, design, and management abound in the rising steel sector of Ghaziabad.

Education

While traditional education hubs in India are slowly fading out, places like Ghaziabad stand out, with an increasing focus on higher education and skill-building. Ghaziabad's institutions for medical science, engineering, law, and business management cater not only to students from all walks of life but have created a vast employment gap for academic professionals to fill. Institutions like the IMT, Jaipuria Institute of Management, and a number of centres for teacher training and distance education have turned Ghaziabad into a career haven for those looking for teaching jobs. The NSDC credits the healthy number of educational institutes in Ghaziabad behind fulfilling the ever-increasing demand for professionals in the IT and BPO sector.
The neighbouring town of Modinagar is a busy educational centre as well, with institutions like SRM University, the 60-year old Multanimal Modi Post Graduation College, DJ College of Science and Technology, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute, apart from intermediate colleges for science, commerce, and humanities.

Chemical Products

Chemical manufacturing and chemical product-based companies also promise increasing job opportunities in Ghaziabad. The bustling suburb of Sahibabad boasts of a number of major and upcoming food products and pharmaceutical companies. India's largest ayurvedic medicine manufacturer, Dabur, is headquartered in Sahibabad. The Century Laminating Company too has a branch at Hapur Road, Ghaziabad. The city has a long list of illustrious chemical product companies, including Modi Paint and Varnish Works, Easter Chemical Ltd., and Rathi Gases.
It doesn't end here. The machinery, tools, and non-metallic mineral products sectors, too, create thousands of job opportunities annually in Ghaziabad. The rising working population has created several secondary opportunities for doing business in the city. Urban residential areas of Indirapuram, Raj Nagar, Vaishali and Sahibabad have also created jobs in the retail sector. The city is well connected with the rest of NCR and is set to become an important destination for job seekers from all over the country.
