City Faridabad

Bordered by Gurgaon in the West, Noida in the east and New Delhi in the north, Faridabad is the largest city in the Indian state of Haryana. Proximity to three major north Indian cities has helped the region grow into the metropolis that it is today. Sheikh Farid, a Sufi saint and the treasurer of Mughal Emperor Jahangir founded the region in 1607 AD to protect the highway passing through the region. It took the region until 1979 to become an official district of Haryana. At that time, the place was named after its founder Sheikh Farid.
